The New 2016 Sever Range Is Here

The New 2016 Sever Range Is Here

Final Q4 Update 2015

2016 is fast approaching and the new server range has arrived. It only seems like yesterday when we were announcing the 2015 server range with remote controls and multiple locations for vps servers! What a year it’s been! This year’s new range includes great performance increases, higher frequency memory and huge 10GB server connections all connected to what’s likely to be the most stable network you will ever host your services on. Our uptime has never been better with the best node, Alpha 4 recording a total 415 days uptime. that's almost a year and a half without a reboot! let’s take a look at what we have coming for 2016.

Multimedia Servers with the new Broadwell processors

When we decided to order the new Broadwell processors back in Q1 of 2015 we knew these where going to be a great choice. The benchmarks and the reviews speak for themselves and when they arrived last week we just couldn’t wait to have some set up and working on the network.

We’re going to be removing our "Hosting Servers" and replacing them with "Multimedia Servers" including three new server plans based on the new Intel Xeon D-1520 and D-1540 Broadwell processors. These come in an 8 core/16 thread CPU which is extremely dense, optimised for virtualisation and perfect for heavy server loads. What’s more, (and this is huge!) we’re going to be offering 10 GBPS connections on the new 2016 range without compromising on the price. These servers will market at the same price as our current range. Customers on these servers will be gaining 9 GBPS in connection latency and increased exposure at no increased costs compared to our current range. If you’re using these servers for streaming as 43% of our customers do you really do need to consider getting set up in one of these and not just for the connection either. Each server is fitted with EEC ram and wait for it! the frequency of the ram installed in these machines is set at 2133 MHz with the additional options of having SSD drives and hardware raid.

Want one of these before they’re released?

We have one rack set up and ready to go. Used in our benchmark testing last week we have added the D-1250 as an additional server to our media range. https://first2host.co.uk/#Multimedia

 K.V.M Consoles in Germany

We’re seeing more and more Windows based servers being purchased by our customers. We know in some instances you don’t want to use our Windows licenses and even the OS choices we offer. So to tackle this issue we’re going to be introducing LARA consoles in Germany as a trial. A LARA is based on KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) and allows customers access to any server without the need for an OS. Using this you can mount your own OS Images and therefore you have no need to use our Windows SPLA licenses. A Lara will be offered for free for up to two hours. After this the charge will be nominal at £10 /3 hours. A typical Windows OS install takes about 60 minutes.

SSD VPS Servers

Four new SSD VPS plans are in the pipeline and when they’re ready to roll out we’re going to show you a great comparison between SSDs and standard hard drives. Connected by 10GB connections and based on our new Broadwell processors the biggest server available will pack a huge sixteen, yes 16x 2.0 GHz threads with a 32 GB DDR-4 ram burst clocked at 2133 MHz. The maximum space allocation will be 300GB (1 whole hard drive) and each SSD server will be come with a 2 GBPS Connection with unmetered Bandwidth.

USA Based Servers get additional options

We have refreshed our range of servers which are available in the USA. We’ve added two new servers with two more on the way but what I want to focus on is the additional options which are not available on all USA based servers. We’ve been busy adding options to purchase secondary drives, SSD drives, additional memory, IP pools and hardware raid configurations.

When ordering a USA server you are now asked on setup if you want to configure this server. Each server in the USA is connected manually as it’s purchased and set up. This allows us a good opportunity to offer you the option to have us open up the server and tweak the hardware to what you want it to be. There’s no setup fees and we will build servers free of charge. This is active now on all servers based in the United States.
