Customer Advice
Node:- LocalHost (Master Node)
Servers:- SS3
It was previously thought we could migrate the whole of SS3 without any need for DNS updates, unfortunately because of issues with our VLAN setup our new Dell servers will not run on our old IP ranges.
Because of this all users on SS3 will need to update their name servers to the following
ns1.sikserver5.com
ns2.sikserver5.com
** DO NOT UPDATE YOUR NS UNTILL AFTER SUNDAY 22/10/2013**
We are busy provisioning a new server and we will migrate all files and customers to the new server for you. We realize it's a pain to have to update your name servers but it's real simple, Login to your registrar and simply select "Update Name Servers* and enter the new ones above. If your domain name is with us then you can update your NS from the client area and the change is instant. Even if your domain name is not provided by us your will see NO downtime at all.
It's important to remember any files uploaded to the server after Saturday 21st 2013 will not be copied to the new SS5 server. You must update your name servers before you upload any files. SS3 will remain on-line until 20/10/2013 to allow all users to update there domain names. Information will be displayed in cPanel and WHM this will also be shown to your customers but will make no reference to First2Host, only to yourselves, We decided to take this option to be sure no one is left out and no one is unaware of the change.
As always our support team will be on hand and we will be sending regular emails to all resellers on SS3 to ensure you comply with this migration. Any accounts still in use on SS3 after 20/10/2013 will be lost. It's important you take action now.
First Steps - Check your account's
After 21/10/2013 use the cPanel temporary link to check your site and your customers sites are on the new server and working, This is done by navigating to the server IP and including your cPanel user name for example;
http://64.251.13.193/~sikserv
Would take you to what would normally be the users sikserv website. Just replace the letters after the ~ with the cPanel user name, If you notice errors please contact support, Some sites by default will not display correctly using the temporary link.
Private Name Servers
Some users have private DNS, as we change over you will need to use the standard NS and then contact support to get your new IP's to update your domains NS.
If all is well you can simply update the NS on all your domain names to reflect the new server.
As this is a new server the advantage of this is when we roll out the much delayed Ipv6 this will be one of the first servers to take advantage of the new technology. Keep watching your emails for further details.
